libhdfeos-dev software package provides Development files for the HDF-EOS4 library, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libhdfeos-dev
libhdfeos-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libhdfeos-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libhdfeos-dev *
You will get with libhdfeos-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
